To give you a bit of a background I had just arrived in Nevada to visit one of my best friends who I hadn’t seen in years. I found myself in a tiny little town just off of Route 88, at an incredible place called Tom Long’s Cutting Horses….. This is where my journey begun.

The very second I saw this view everything seemed to become insignificant, when you see this, what do you see? Nature? Beauty? For me I saw peace. It reminded me that whilst we are in a world with over 7 billion people sometimes the best places are alone with nature.
Whilst at the start of my trip my friend was away at a show for “Cutting Horses” which by the way is no where near as brutal as it sounds! In fact it’s quite an incredible sport, and if you get a chance give it a go!
I was left in some of the best hands possible or hoofs anyway….. When I arrived at Tom Long’s I couldn’t help but notice some of the most incredible looking horses and day by day I felt myself falling more in love not just with the scenery but the animals as well.

I noticed having come from living in a busy city on the south coast of England just how much I got caught up in things that really didn’t matter in the big scheme of things, and it took being 5000 miles away in the middle of a ranch to realise this! Anyway coming off track a little bit here!
It was here in Nevada I first found my true passion for being outdoors, hiking and even attempting to ride a horse occasionally! (Pretty well I may add!) Or at least I thought it was…… Then it came back to me, whenever I was at my happiest in life I was out in the countryside whether it would be walking my best friend / dog Magwai with my family or on this occasion in Nevada.

The moment I realised this it was almost like the Universe recognised that I was happy and content and everything began to fall into place I started to meet people with similar interests and passions, people who shared the same values as me and to this day some of my best friends.

I think what i’m trying to say is sometimes to be truly happy and to find what you’re looking for you just need to take a step back and enjoy the moment. When you do this incredible things will happen, friendships will be made, moments will be created and journeys will begin….. Or at least this is how mine started.
